He graduated from the Academy of Arts of the Latvian SSR in 1956, studying under P. Lyubomudrov. He worked for the publishing houses IZOGIZ, Izobraznoye Iskusstvo, Sovetsky Khudozhnik, and Plakat-Panorama.
