Nigel Mason was born in Yorkshire in 1952. From an early age he had a very keen interest in art and taught himself to paint by copying old masters as well as paintings housed in Leeds Art Gallery. He later moved to North Devon supporting himself and his young family by painting Kitchen furniture.
