This particular version of the Dyson DC44 Motor is a "Type B" it will only work with the Type B battery the one that is fastenedinto the handle with 2 screws. Suitable for DC44 Type B only. If your motor is only running for 3 seconds or so and then shuts off that indicates it is the battery and not your motor.
