The issue (VCR side): The VCR loads tapes normally but shuts the unit down shortly after attempting to play (common safety shutdown). Fast-forward/rewind may also trigger shutdown. DVD side functions flawlessly — plays DVDs quickly and reliably with excellent picture and sound.
