The US patent, which also covers the Trillion puzzle, was filed on 30 December 1980 and granted on 15 March 1983 (US 4,376,537 and also design patent D267,661). The puzzle has 23 coloured balls arranged in five columns spaced evenly around the sides of the barrel.
