Vintage salt cellar made of clear glass. The piece is 8 sided in shape with faceted edges, giving it a gem-like appearance. At the base of the salt cellar, there is an intaglio-style design (carved into the glass from below) featuring horse and rider going over a fence. Size: 2.25" x 2.25" Condition: In good condition. This type of salt cellar, often used in the 19th to early 20th century, would have been placed at the center of a dining table or used for individual servings of salt before modern shakers became widespread. The craftsmanship and color suggest it may be a collectible or part of art glass production, possibly American or European pressed glass.
