This item requires AAA batteries, not included. I tested the unit with batteries, and made sure it posted on/lit up, and it did. I did not test every function, but it is in great cosmetic shape and appears to have been well taken care of. There is an jack for an optional wall plug and other accessories they can be purchased seperately by buyer if they choose. Unit has a built-in speaker.
