This is a great machine and would be cheap/easy to fix. It looks intimidating inside but it’s designed to be easily repaired. Just a few screws and ribbon cables to detach. VHS side has an issue with tape spill in fast forward and play mode. Auto stop sensor works fine and will stop the tape so it won’t eat them. The problem seems to be weak compression spring on a pinch roller arm (on the right side of the top of the deck when viewed from above). This arm not being fully pulled down seems to be stopping the up reel from moving freely with the other gears. The DVD side doesn’t attempt to load the disc.
