The blade was well heat treating (Refining) and quenching(Tempering) greatly improve the hardness for real use (The 9260 spring steel feature amazing in hardness and flexibility which can be used on heavy targets without damaging the edge of the blade,and can revert back from an almost 90 degree bend ).
