The stems are densely covered in pale white to dark red spines depending on light exposure and maturity. C. jujuyensis grows best in full sun to partial shade while sitting in well-draining soils. It is not particularly drought-tolerant and will benefit from regular watering during dry spells, however allow the soil to dry in between waterings.
