This is a beautiful and rare box that dates to the Napoleon III era, 1840-1870. Fine craftsmanship and lots of detail with inlaid brass, sterling silver, and i vory. Agonized wood with inlays of birds and shells. The inside retains its old writing surface. Large box that can hold two inkwells and stationery. Some imperfections, including on one corner and a little loss to the stringing. However, for its age, in quite good condition and beautiful to look at. 16" wide; 10" deep; 5.5" deep. I have collected boxes for a long time, and this is one that is quite magnificent. Downsizing because I moved to a smaller house. Paid much more than what I am listing it for.
