Born on November 26, 1916, Mōri Senzō learned the woodturning craft under his father, Mōri Shigetarō (毛利茂太郎). He went on to influence several younger artisans, including his fourth son, Mōri Shōichi (毛利昭一), and apprentice Muramoto Fumio (村元文雄).
