This Is A Well Made Large Antique 19th Century Wrought Iron Hasp Bolt With Curl Finger Operator and Staple. This hasp was attached solid to the door and the extra long staple would extend through both the door and the hasp. The door will overlap the jamb. This type of latch was used for many applications during the 18th and 19th centuries wherever a door needed a one sided catch. This is an early piece in good condition in age darkened patina and minor surface pitting. Hasp measures 9” long overall by 1 3/8” at widest. The curl measures 1 1/4” in diameter.
