Numbers with curves on the top and/or bottom like the 2, or 8 will be slightly taller in order for the numbers to look proportionate. This is not a defect, but a design technique. The "1/2" has a 1 and 2 that are half the height of the listed size so they can be stacked and end up at the listed height.
