This was used on the Robinair Automotive units that use a pre-filter to clean the refrigerant before it entered the recovery unit. Refrigerant Recovery Unit Pre-filter "HOSE". there is simply not enough room to screw on a pre-filter and then your hose, or you have to use a expensive male x female pre-filter.
