One of the outside channels for the chain is missing (pictured) and needs to be replaced and i do not have a chain to test so i cannot say whether its fully functional otherwise. But it does ratchet both ways and the forward/reverse switch works fine. I also dont hear any grinding on the inside as if the gears are dried up or broken.
