This bowl is two-toned wood hand turned, created with rosewood. The distinct contrasting light and dark area are a hallmark of "live-edge" or sapwood-incorporating woodturning, where the lighter outer sapwood of the tree is left visible against the darker inner heartwood. Rosewood is valued for its deep, rich heartwood color and striking contrast with the lighter sapwood. This bowl was created on a lathe (hand-turned) resulting in a smooth circular form that highlights the natural grain and wabi-sabi aesthetic of the wood.
